Bettie Dibrell Memorial Endowed Scholarship

The Bettie Dibrell Memorial Endowed Scholarship is available to students who have completed six hours of coursework toward a substance abuse certificate or nine hours of coursework in the substance abuse degree program and have a minimum 3.0 GPA.

This scholarship was established in 2008 in memory of Bettie Dibrell. For more than 35 years, Bettie was a mentor, teacher, and supporter to many at the college and to those in Charlotte who worked in the field of chemical dependency treatment and human services. Bettie taught at Central Piedmont from 1975-1979 and returned in 1994 as the substance abuse program chair, a position she held until she died unexpectedly in 2008. Bettie trained countless substance abuse counselors currently practicing in the area and she left an indelible mark on all whom she touched.
