Dr. Clifton “Cliff” Hammond

Dr. Clifton “Cliff” Hammond, a U.S. military veteran, lifelong learner, and educator, attended The Citadel, Central Piedmont Community College, and the University of Georgia. He earned a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from UNC Charlotte and became a full‐time instructor there. Later, Cliff attained his Ph.D. in counseling from UNC Greensboro. Cliff’s experience at Central Piedmont was so positive that he returned to the college as a counselor for the Hospitality program and later became program director for Early Childhood Education. In 1987, he earned the Richard H. Hagemeyer Educational Advancement Award, which recognizes a former Central Piedmont student who has significantly benefited from experiences at the college and whose efforts have positively impacted the community.

Impact

In recognition of Cliff’s commitment to education and his passion for helping students succeed in achieving their goals, the Dr. Clifton Hammond Memorial Scholarship provides financial assistance to qualified students enrolled in the Early Childhood Education program at Central Piedmont.
