Judy & Stan August
Our parents taught us to value education as a precious and important opportunity worth working hard to achieve. Both of our fathers persevered to overcome obstacles in order to obtain their own higher education. Judy’s father came to this country as an immigrant escaping Nazi Germany, and worked full-time while attending college at night in order to earn his college degree. Stan’s father also worked hard to support a family while attending medical school.
We appreciate and understand the difference and long-lasting impact that a good education can have on a person’s life. The ability to think critically and develop insights into the world around us is useful, not only for achieving one’s career goals, but also for contributing one’s talents toward making the world a better place. We also believe that higher education can prepare an individual for the inevitable challenges and obstacles that occur in life. Our desire for this scholarship is to recognize an individual who has demonstrated the fortitude and motivation to persevere in the face of difficult odds, and to help encourage them in their pursuit of a CPCC degree.
