Charles Vance "Van" Abernethy - Chef Van Scholarship

The Charles Vance “Van” Abernethy – Chef Van Scholarship is available to students in the culinary arts programs. Requirements include:

  • Taking a minimum of six (6) credit hours per semester, have demonstrated commitment to a culinary career, and have demonstrated financial need,
  • Be recommended by a member of the faculty and/or staff of the culinary arts program at the end of the spring semester for the following academic year, and
  • Submit a 50-100-word essay on their goals for the future in the culinary field.
  • Have a financial need as determined by CPCC Financial aid and/or have demonstrated commitment to a culinary career.

This scholarship was established in 2009 in memory of Charles Vance “Chef Van” Abernethy, Jr. who was a former Instructional lab facilitator at Central Piedmont.
