The Cato-Thomas (Tom) Johnson Endowed Scholarship

The Cato-Thomas (Tom) Johnson Endowed Scholarship is available to Central Piedmont students in any associate degree, diploma, or certificate program who have financial need. Preference will be given to students who have worked for pay, are working for pay, or who have worked or are working without pay in community service.

In memory of Thomas (Tom) Johnson (1901-1972), who was a member of the Board of Directors of The Cato Corporation from 1957-1963, this scholarship program was established in 2000. Tom Johnson was one of the five investors who helped Wayland H. Cato, Sr. start the company in 1946.
