The Cato-John Emory (Jack) Efird, II Endowed Scholarship

The Cato-John Emory (Jack) Efird, II Endowed Scholarship is available to Central Piedmont students in any associate degree, diploma, or certificate program who have financial need. Preference will be given to students who have worked for pay, are working for pay, or who have worked or are working without pay in community service.

In memory of John Emory (Jack) Efird (1922-1997), who was employed by the Cato Corporation from 1954-1971, this scholarship program was established in 1999. Jack Efird’s career with Cato culminated in his position as Senior Vice President-Store Operations Manager. From 1966 through 1970 he was also a member of the company’s Board of Directors.
